Appearance of tiles
Handmade cement tiles will exhibit minor imperfections and colour variations and will not be identical from piece to piece. Some examples include minor chipping on visible and non-visible edges, minimal colour bleeding, hairline cracks on visible tile surface and ± 1mm variation in tile thickness. These are the result of the nature of cement and the handmade process and will in no way compromise the performance and strength of your tiles.
Efflorescence
In order to gain strength and cure properly, cement tiles are submerged in water for 24 hours. After they are removed from the water bath, efflorescence will form on the surface. This is a natural process which occurs when the water, containing salts and other minerals, evaporates, leaving a white coating on the tile surface. Even though we sand and inspect each tile carefully prior to packaging, efflorescence can sometimes reoccur after tiles have been installed. If this happens, you can easily remove it by sanding your tiles with a 400 grit sandpaper.
Sealing the tiles
Cement tiles must be sealed with a high quality penetrating sealer. For best results, at least one coat of sealer should be applied prior to installation. After the tiles are installed and grouted, apply one or two more coats of the same sealer. In order to give your tiles the best care and longevity, sealer should be reapplied once a year.
Cleaning and maintenance
Cement tiles are not resistant to acids and any such spills should be removed immediately using a mild, neutral cleaner. Do not use any acidic or alkaline cleaners on your tiles. Use only PH neutral cleaners and fine sandpaper to remove any stains or residue. Do not allow any liquids to pool on the surface of the tiles. To improve the natural sheen of your cement tiles, add a small quantity of liquid wax to mopping water.
Ordering your tiles
Please make sure to order enough tiles to complete the installation, including 10% - 15% extra. By installing your tiles, you confirm acceptance, and absolutely no returns or exchanges will be allowed after that point. Please inspect product before your contractor installs it.
Order Lead Time
Your order will proceed to production as soon as your payment has been confirmed. From this date, most orders will be completed within our standard lead time of 6-12 weeks, but can take longer based on volume and production schedule.
